Casting Directors/Consultants are contracted by Networks, Studios or Production Companies to provide advice and consultation on matters related to casting for screen projects.
In contrast, an Actor's Agent procures jobs and negotiates deals on an Actor's behalf. For this service they receive a fee usually based on the applicable percentage of the Actor's fee. Essentially, the Casting Director works on behalf of the Producer/Director and the Agent works on behalf of the Actor.
